April Franklin

Howdy y’all! My name is April Franklin. I’m a Texas girl through and through but have lived on the east coast for more than 12 years now. I love to travel and make new friends. I’m a lover of all things Texan, Blue Bell Ice Cream, Cowboys football and yes, even country music. I know I’m loved when someone brings me coffee and a piece of my momma’s sweet potato pie. I currently work at the International Mission Board as a full time Student Mobilization Associate, which is just a fancy way of saying I help students and their leaders find ways to serve overseas. I have a passion for students and mission work, so it’s been a great way to merge the two.
I grew up in Texas and with my lovely family. My dad was a bi-vocational co-founding and associate pastor the first 12 years of my life. My mom worked outside of the home but was my Sunday school teacher too. So, I grew up knowing about Jesus and at the age of 6 I made a profession of faith and was baptized. At the age of 15, I experienced my first direct loss of a loved one and it shook me. The whole next year, I battled with how a good God could let such hurt exist. However, after working through all the issues that year, I told Him, I would do whatever He wanted me to for as long as He gave me breathe.
Trusting Him has meant several years of youth, student or kids ministry and now vocational missions ministry. I never thought it would mean living half-way across the country from my family as a single lady, but I love helping people fall in love with Jesus, His Word and teaching them to share that with others. Consistent time in the Word has been a struggle on my own, but with some accountability with others I stay in the Word. It allows for mutual edification and transparency. God is faithful even when we are unfaithful to Him. I’m praying for each of you, and for me, as we journey through His Word together that we go deeper and develop a vibrant love for Him, His Word, and His Bride.
